I’m in Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” Video. What is Life?

Back in March, my agent forwarded me an email from Adam Levine inviting me
to be part of the Maroon 5 music video for their next single, “Girls Like You” At first I was sure I was being Punk’d. How could Adam Levine possibly know who I was and why would anyone reboot Punk’d? I needed answers.

Fast forward to a few days later, I get to set and Adam gives me the biggest warmest hug and has all sorts of sweet things to say about MTV Decoded. He even complimented my flailing dance moves & camera presence!

The shoot was surreal. Before my take I chatted with the lovely Ashley Graham (who’s somehow prettier in person) & afterward had a few laughs with Tiffany Haddish (she remembered me from Black Girls Rock!?) & I managed to get a hug 😎 Everyone on set was SO NICE & despite my nerves (like WHO wants to dance solo after freaking JLo??) the director David Dobkin made me feel right at home and assured me that every woman was specifically chosen for the video and to just be myself.

The finished video is a *masterpiece*. It’s so cool to see how it all came together and to be included among such an impressive cast of women including Trace Lysette, Tiffany Hadish, Lily Singh, Beanie Feldstein and so many more! Thanks again to Adam (we’re on a first name basis now 💅🏾), the band and David Dobkin for letting me be part of such a beautiful project! Check out the video below!
